The recording of the second EU-CIEMBLY webinar that took place on the 29th of September is now available, offering an opportunity to explore how intersectionality can inform the design of more inclusive citizens’ assemblies.
In “Design features for an intersectionality-informed citizens’ assembly”, Dr Niall O’Connor and Dr Anastasia Karatzia from Essex Law School, University of Essex, address a central question for deliberative democracy: how can citizens’ assemblies incorporate intersectionality, inclusion and equality into their design?
The webinar forms part of EU-CIEMBLY’s ongoing work to develop a model for citizens’ assemblies that addresses overlapping forms of exclusion and unequal participation. It brings this research into the discussion of how democratic processes can better reflect the diversity of citizens’ experiences.
Whether you work in research, policymaking or public participation, or simply want to learn more about inclusive democracy, we invite you to watch the recording and explore the role of design in creating more inclusive deliberative spaces.
