Across Europe, access to secure, adequate and affordable housing is becoming an increasingly urgent challenge. However, the housing crisis does not affect everyone in the same way. Factors such as age, income, gender, disability, origin and location can overlap, creating additional barriers for individuals and communities.
As EU-CIEMBLY prepares for its upcoming Transnational Citizens’ Assembly, people from across Europe are invited to participate in the Transnational Dialogue on Housing in Europe.
Through this interactive online Dialogue, participants can share their experiences, concerns and priorities regarding housing. They can reflect on challenges such as unaffordable housing costs, poor living conditions, discrimination, insecurity and homelessness, while also considering what role local authorities, national governments and the European Union should play in addressing them.
Participants will also be able to react to expert recommendations and identify where greater European investment and action are most urgently needed, from affordable and social housing to tenant protection, energy efficiency, transparency and the prevention of homelessness.
The experiences and priorities collected through the Dialogue will help inform the discussions of the EU-CIEMBLY Transnational Citizens’ Assembly. By beginning with people’s lived experiences, the process aims to ensure that the Assembly reflects the diversity of housing realities across Europe, particularly those of people whose voices are often underrepresented in public decision-making.
