As part of the communication campaign for the EU-CIEMBLY project, researchers from the University of Coimbra Institute for Legal Research (UCILeR) organised an activity at Marco de Canaveses Secondary School on 30 April 2025. The team, made up of Dulce Lopes, Lucía Muñoz and Fernando Borges, used two games to promote a discussion about democracy.
Created by the project's researchers, the games (‘URGE: Deliberative Democracy, Now’, developed by Alexandra Aragão, and ‘SimulEU - Youth Assembly: Participate, Deliberate, Transform’, developed by Clara Serrano) created an interactive environment in which the school's students were able to work on defining concepts (URGE) that are relevant to democracy, as well as to put themselves in the role of other people, debate issues that are relevant to the European context and present proposals for improvement (SimulEU).
