We are incredibly proud to share the successful implementation of our Cyprus pilot Citizens' Assembly!
On April 25, 2026, the University of Cyprus in Nicosia opened its doors to citizens from diverse regions and social backgrounds across the island. We didn't ask for specialized experts; instead, we invited everyday people to bring their real, lived experiences to the table to tackle one of our most critical social issues: housing.
What unfolded was a powerful, participatory dialogue. Supported by trained facilitators and enriched by insights from local organizations—including the Office of the Commissioner for Gender Equality, the Cyprus Red Cross, CODECA, and the University of Cyprus—participants worked on an equal footing to build actionable solutions.
This milestone event culminated in concrete, citizen-driven recommendations that were formally presented to key decision-makers on May 6, 2026, including MEP Michalis Hatzipantelas and Commissioner for the Citizen Panagiotis Palates. This ensures that the voices of everyday Cypriots will echo in both local policy and the European Parliament.
We captured the energy, dedication, and impact of this pioneering assembly in our latest video. We invite you to step inside the room with us and see how citizens are reshaping the future of housing in Cyprus.
